How Bamboo measures, manages and reports on sustainability

ESG and sustainability impact reporting

Bamboo’s ESG and sustainability impact reporting demonstrate how we operate as a responsible, transparent and accountable business. Our aim is to create measurable value for customers, employees, partners and local communities, while reducing environmental impacts and supporting a more sustainable future.

Our Sustainability Impact Report bring together our environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance, outlining how sustainability is embedded with purpose across our business operations. It shows how we track progress, meet compliance obligations, and align with international sustainability reporting standards such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).

This commitment to sustainability and ethical standards is part of our culture, not just our documentation. It guides daily decision-making, builds stakeholder trust, and provides a clear framework for continual improvement.

Our Sustainability Commitment – the heart of our business

Sustainability at Bamboo means acting with integrity, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, and creating positive social and environmental outcomes.

The scope of our activities covers four main areas:

Environment

Managing our environmental impacts, reducing our carbon footprint and improving environmental performance through measurable environmental objectives

People

Protecting human rights, supporting diversity and fair labour practices, and promoting employee development and wellbeing

Community

Strengthening our connection with the local community through charitable giving, volunteering and digital inclusion initiatives

Governance

Maintaining robust internal controls, ensuring ethical standards and full accountability across every level of the organisation

This structure aligns our business priorities with stakeholder expectations, ensuring that environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors are treated with equal importance.

We support our clients’ environmental objectives and help them meet their own ESG commitments too

Environmental responsibility and performance

By making environmental stewardship a central part of our sustainability strategy, we also support our clients’ environmental objectives and help them meet their own ESG commitments too.

Our environmental initiatives are governed by an environmental management system (EMS) operating in line with the ISO 14001 standard, an internationally recognised framework for identifying and managing environmental aspects and risks. This helps us in our mission to minimise waste, reduce resource consumption and continually improve environmental performance while maintaining compliance with environmental regulations and legal obligations.

Key sustainability indicators include energy usage, waste management, recycling rates and greenhouse gas emissions. These are monitored through internal audits, management reviews and performance reporting to demonstrate continual improvement.

Concrete results and actions to date include:
• More than 95% of devices reused or recycled, reducing e-waste and conserving natural resources.
• Carbon savings of up to 73kg of CO₂ per refurbished device, measured through CO₂ certification.
• Localised refurbishment within Europe to minimise transport emissions and improve resource efficiency.

Community engagement

Our approach to social responsibility combines internal employee support with external community engagement.

The Bamboo family is proud to be active investors in the local community that sustains us. Recent community projects include:

• £70,000 of mobile devices donated to NHS hospitals during the COVID-19 pandemic.
• £10,000 of smartphones and tablets donated to Afghan refugees to support digital access.
• £1,500 raised for Broxbourne Food Bank, providing ten trolleys of food and 200 Easter eggs.

We also contribute to education and employability programmes by providing refurbished devices to schools and community organisations.

These initiatives support digital inclusion and demonstrate how social responsibility creates tangible value within society.

Our Sustainability Impact Report

The Bamboo Sustainability Impact Report is prepared annually to give stakeholders in-depth insight into our sustainability performance, environmental impact and social responsibility outcomes. It outlines progress against key environmental objectives, diversity and inclusion metrics, and our contribution to the circular economy through reuse and refurbishment.

By aligning our ESG report initiatives with recognised sustainability frameworks, we ensure that our disclosures meet investor, regulator and customer expectations. The report includes both qualitative and quantitative data, offering a balanced view of how our sustainability strategy translates into measurable results.

Clients and partners can use this information to make informed decisions about their own supply chains and sustainability goals. For many of our partners, our rigour and transparency offer a competitive advantage, providing assurance that environmental and social values are being managed to the highest standards across the whole value chain.

Corporate citizenship across the ecosystem

Corporate social responsibility is not limited to our own operations. We work closely with suppliers, logistics partners and repair organisations to ensure responsible practices across our supply chains. Supplier assessments include checks on environmental performance, ethical standards and compliance with human rights and labour requirements.

We also take proactive measures to mitigate environmental risks and improve sustainability across the ecosystem. Examples include reducing packaging waste, selecting TAPA-accredited logistics partners and supporting partners in achieving their own ISO certifications.

This end-to-end approach to corporate sustainability reinforces stakeholder confidence and helps all participants in our network raise their environmental and social standards.

Measuring impact and progress

Our Impact Report brings together environmental data, community contributions and business outcomes in one place. It tracks progress using sustainability indicators such as CO₂ reduction, waste diversion, employee engagement and community investment.

These metrics provide tangible proof of our performance improvement and continuous commitment to environmental sustainability. They also ensure compliance with reporting standards and make it easier for clients to integrate our verified results into their own ESG reporting.

The report is reviewed annually and available to download here. For clients, investors and other stakeholders, it offers a clear, evidence-based view of how Bamboo’s actions contribute to wider environmental and social goals.

Looking ahead

Our Sustainability Impact Reporting Framework is built for continual improvement. Future plans include extending the scope of our environmental reporting, developing additional resources for community engagement and introducing digital dashboards that enable us to track performance in real time.

We will continue to align our business operations with global sustainability goals, working towards net-zero emissions, improving waste reduction further and driving greater stakeholder inclusion.

Bamboo’s commitment to sustainability remains clear: to operate a responsible business that supports people, protects the environment and delivers lasting value to society.
